Fortnite continues to be one of the most popular games of the moment, and now Epic Games introduced some new features for players who have an iPhone or an iPad. A new update to the iOS version of the game improves compatibility with joysticks and also adds 120 FPS gameplay on compatible devices for the first time.

iPad Pro

The 11-inch iPad Pro 2020 starts at $799 and the 12.9-inch model starts at $999.It comes with an A12 Z chip which is a slite step up from the A12X Bionic found in 2018’s iPad Pro. Which essentially means GPU has been beefed up this year to 8 cores.  Apple says that should help with games that run at 120Hz, 4K rendering in video editing apps, and improved AR performance.

But if you have an iPad Pro 2018 it will perform almost the same as the iPad Pro 2020.

So let's talk about Fortnite. Epic Games released an update for the iOS version of Fortnite that unlocks a niche-but-cool feature if you have the hardware to support it: a 120 frames per second mode for the latest (2018 And 2020) iPad Pro. This mode makes the most of the screen’s high refresh rate to deliver ultra-smooth performance. The update also adds support for controller thumbstick buttons.

The 120fps mode works only in the 2018 and 2020 iPad Pro models. The frame rate does occasionally drop down into the 100s or 90s, after 2 or 3 hours of gameplay, but otherwise the game does indeed deliver the advertised 120 fps.

Enabling the 120fps mode automatically drops the resolution and fixes the visual settings at “medium,” just as you can only run at 60 fps with “high” settings and 30 fps with “epic”.

That said, it's still a huge performance advantage over Fortnite's console versions, which are locked to 60fps on PS4 and Xbox One and a paltry 30fps on
Nintendo Switch.

iPad Air 3 Or iPad mini 5

The 3rd-generation iPad Air 3 starts at $499 with 64GB of flash storage and the Pricing on the new iPad mini 5 starts at $399 for the 64GB  model.
The 2019 iPad Air 3 and iPad Mini 5 are almost identically specced. Both the iPad Air 3 and iPad Mini 5 share the same A12 X Bionic processor. So gameplay in both the devices is almost identical.

You will not get 120fps mode but you can still play the game at 60fps at high setting and you also get the controller support.

which makes the iPad Air 3 and mini 5 a good portable gaming device. These iPads will give you far more superior quality and performance than a Nintendo Switch.

iPad 7 Generation

It is the entry-level iPad with the starting price of $329 (32GB).
It houses an A10 Fusion chipset with M10 coprocessor and it works buttery smooth in terms of app launching, multi-tasking with split-screen feature and playing games was enthralling.

Although you are getting an older processor with this iPad but, still you can play Fortnite at 60fps at Medium setting and 30fps at High.

If you are are a casual gamer then this will serve your needs.
And of course you also get the controller support with this one as well.
