Apple announces new iPhone SE to target mid-range market
The new iPhone, according to Apple, is a 'powerful new smartphone in a popular design'. It features some of the latest hardware available on Apple’s current flagship line up, the iPhone 11 series but shares the design language of the iPhone 8. iPhone SE is priced at a starting price of $399 and around ₹42,000 in India.
It has a 4.7-inch screen, large bezels on the top and bottom, and a home button with touch ID.
It is powered by the same A13 Bionic chip that is found on the iPhone 11 and the iPhone 11 Pro series.
The processor also lets the new iPhone SE gain some new camera features. It comes with a12MP f/1.8 sensor and a True Tone LED flash. The camera comes with features like Portrait mode (six effects like Natural, Studio, Contour, Stage, Stage Mono, High-Key Mono), Smart HDR, Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), Burst Mode, Auto Focus, etc. In case you are wondering, the iPhone SE does not come with Night Mode.Apple says it’s using the A13 Bionic’s chips to improve its Smart HDR photography, which combines multiple shots into a single photo to improve lighting and detail.
The iPhone SE can also shoot videos in 4K up to 60 fps, 1080p slo-mo videos at 120 or 240 fps, etc.
For selfies, there is a 7MP f/2.2 sensor at the front that supports Portrait Mode, Retina Flash, Auto HDR, etc.
iPhone SE is dust resistant and Water resistant to 1 meter for 30 minutes.
The iPhone SE comes with a 5W charging brick, but supports 18W fast charging that needs to be bought separately. Further, it also supports wireless charging.
It supports Wi-Fi 6, Gigabit LTE, and dual-SIMs. (The second one is an eSIM, however.) It also supports Haptic Touch, which is Apple’s replacement for 3D Touch, amounting to a long press with haptic feedback.
The iPhone SE comes with a 5W charging brick, but supports 18W fast charging that needs to be bought separately. Further, it also supports wireless charging.
Bottom Line
The iPhone SE looks like a very good deal overall. With the starting price of $399 you get the same A13 Bionic processor that you get with the Apple's most expensive iPhones . It has good overall camera but has the same old design as the iphone 7 . So if you don't mind the dated design of the iphone and you want slightly smaller iPhone then this is a good option for you.
